 Interstate 64 Median BarrierKanawha County, WV West Virginia Department of Transportation Orders Construction worked as a subcontractor on this project to upgrade I-64 from four lanes to six. The existing median was used for the widening, and Orders Construction was selected to slip-form the median barrier separating the new lanes. The project was complicated by the presence of several curves, some with cross slopes as steep as eight percent, requiring a variable-height median barrier up to seven feet tall. Due to Orders Construction’s slip-form equipment and expertise the barrier was completed in a fraction of the time required by conventional forming methods. |
