This design-build project to replace a single span bridge on US Route 52 was complicated by the structure's proximity to a mainline Norfolk Southern railway. ORDERS Construction's innovative solution was to replace the 90' long roadway bridge with a 22' diameter structural plate pipe. In order to maintain traffic, the culvert was constructed under the existing bridge. A concrete closure pour connected the pipe to the circa 1900 masonry stone arch carrying the railroad.
